One of the significant advantages of this app is its ability to save you money. Most cell providers impose extravagant fees for international roaming. However, by purchasing a local SIM card, which often costs less than $10 in many countries, you can avoid these exorbitant charges.

It is worth noting that to use a local SIM card, your phone must not be carrier locked (not the same as rooting). You can obtain your phone's unlock code and instructions on how to use it from your service provider, typically over the phone.

In cases where a purchased SIM card includes data, accessing an internet connection will require the service provider's APN settings. Obtaining these settings can be challenging if you don't speak the local language. To simplify this process, the app contains a vast database of known APN settings for SIM cards. Once you run the app and search for your SIM's APN settings, you can add them automatically. Alternatively, Ice Cream Sandwich users can copy and paste individual settings into a new APN entry.

Attention Ice Cream Sandwich and Jelly Bean users: please note that the current release of Android has disabled the ability to add APN settings with third-party software. To manually add APN settings, you will need to use the copy buttons (see the screenshot) and paste the settings into a new APN entry. Please be aware that bypassing this limitation requires root access, which should be done at your own risk, and the app should be placed in the /system directory.

It is important to acknowledge the limitations of this application. The Offline APN Database will not provide signal to your phone in areas where it is typically unavailable. Additionally, this application is specifically designed for phones with a GSM antenna. If your phone does not have a SIM slot, this app will not be useful for you.
